How to Enjoy Bangkok in 4 Days, Part 1

Hola Deffa Here !!!

How to Enjoy Bangkok in 4 Days ?  Actually its quite simple, because Bangkok has all kind of Tourist Attraction. From Culture, Religion, Entertainment and the best part is Shopping.

In Bangkok you can find almost all your Vacation Interest, so here it goes based on my experience back in 2014. Quite a late post but I think you will find its really helpful, if you are going to Bangkok for the first time.

Late Arrival and Where to Stay in Bangkok ?

On February 15th 2014, my Air Asia Flight depart From Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2) 19.25 (Local Time). Than arrived at Don Mueang International Airport at 20.30 Local Time. By the way, I got this flight for only 695 baht.

So its night already and I choose to stay in Khaosan Road area. Because my Interest is in exploring Culture and Custom of Thailand people and add the Nightlife. So Khaosan is the best place for it, because close to the Some of Bangkok Main Attraction such as Grand Palace, Wat Pho and Wat Arun

I advice you to buy a Local Sim Card Provider named Dtac. For only 300 baht, you can get 7 Days Unlimited Internet Access. You can buy it on every Convenience Store located in Don Mueang Airport or other area in Bangkok such as 7-Eleven Store, and ask the Clerks to set it up to your phone (because the menu is in Thai).

How do we go to Khaosan Road from Don Mueang Airport ?

A little bit tricky on this part, especially for those who never or afraid to use the Public Transportation called Bus. The Bus Stop is in front of the Don Mueang Airport, so you need to exit the Building and go to the Main Road. And the Bus Stop will be on the Sidewalk on your left or right (depend on which side are your exit)

Take the Bus no. 59. This Bus will take you straight near the Khaosan Road area, for only 15 baht per person (Non-AC). Just tell the Bus Driver Assistant, "Khaosan Road". They will let you know by yelling "Khaosan Khaosan". If you are near the Destination. For this Bus Stop is in Ratchadamnoen Klang Road. Only  5 minutes walk to Khaosan Road

What to do and Where to Stay in Khaosan Road Bangkok ?

As you can see on of the picture above is the condition of Nightlife in Khaosan Road, yes its crowded. I am looking for Hotel near the Khaosan but lest crowded because I need to rest.

So I choose The Lucky House Mansion, which located just the other side of Khaosan Road so its not far, you can walk only 2 minutes to Khaosan Road from the Hotel.

Its 2-Star Hotel. I Booked via Agoda for 3 nights the price is 1361 baht. Quite cheap for me, and the place is also good although they don't serve Breakfast.

Well my first night in Bangkok, trying the well known Pad Thai with Chicken is a must and Khaosan Road has plenty of Hawkers that sell this Thailand Authentic Cuisine. Its only 40 baht

The Best Destination to Start Your Second Day in Bangkok

The Grand Palace

The First Stop is of course The Grand Palace, its quite near only 1 km from the Khaosan Road, its a walking distance.

Advice beware of the Scam around The Grand Palace, the moment you reach the Grand Palace side area. You will be approached by some guy who will tell you that The Grand Palace is Closed. That is a Scam, the Grand Palace never Closed unless there is a Religion Venue being held. So their Scam is to trick you to believe that The Grand Palace is Closed, and offer you an Overpriced Tour to other Destination.

So don't buy it just walk pass them without answering them. And through the Front Gate of The Grand Palace. The Ticket is 500 baht

Inside you can find Wat Pharakaew (The Emerald Buddha Temple), Textile Museum, Phra Borom Maharatchawong, etc

Wat Pho

The Second Stop is Wat Pho. Its happen just in front of the Grand Palace, only 10 minutes walk. And the Ticket Price is 100 baht. The ticket includes Free Wifi + Drinking Water. Quite cheap right.

Similar to the Grand Palace, Wat Pho is quite a big complex, you can find a lot of Cultural and Religion based Tourism Spot here. And also one of the famous Sleeping Buddha Statue is in here.

And while you are here, why don't you try the famous Fried Quail Egg. That the Hawkers sell around Wat Pho for only 20 baht. Its good to fill up your stomach for a moment

Wat Arun

The Third Stop is Wat Arun. To go to Wat Arun from Wat Pho, we need to cross a River, the Chao Praya River. The pier is quite near from Wat Pho, only 5 minutes walk going South.

There are two types of Pier in here. They are the Cross River Pier and The Pier to Pier. Choose the Cross River Pier and the Fare is only 3 baht per person

A short trip only like 10 minutes or so, from the boat you can see the temple from afar called Wat Arun. From the Docks in Wat Arun side. Just straight to the main temple, the one Tower like. You can climb the stairs to the top and see a great scenery of Chao Praya River from above. And this area is FREE

Cathuchak Market

The Forth Stop is Catchuchak Market, this market is quite far from Wat Arun or Khaosan Road. Because its located in Northern Side of Bangkok, and take notice that this Market Only Open in Weekend. So plan your date well, if you are going to this market.

How to go to Cathuchak Market from Wat Arun or Khaosan Road ?
The easiest way is using the Chao Praya Express Boat. This is the local river transportation that connect Pier to Pier in Chao Praya River. And the Pier that closest to Cathuchak Market is Marine Department Pier.

And there are 5 types of Chao Praya Express Boat divided by the Flag Colors and the fare :
  1. Orange Flag (15 baht). From Nonthaburi - Wat Rajinkorn Pier
  2. Yellow Flag (20 - 29 baht). From Nonthaburi - Wat Rajinkorn Pier Round Trip
  3. Green Flag (13 - 32 baht). From Pakkret - Sathorn Pier
  4. Blue Flag Chaopraya Tourist Boat (40 baht). From Phra Arthit - Sathorn Pier
  5. No Flag (10 - 14 baht). From Nonthaburi - Wat Rajinkorn Pier
So take the Yellow Flag from any pier and off at Marine Department Pier. By the way you can buy the ticket on board the Boat, there is someone on board that will collect the money for the ticket.

Arrived at Marine Department Pier, we need to find the Hua Lamphong Railway Station. From the Pier you need to exit and make a left, than follow the road to the main street, take 15 minutes walk from there.

Buy the ticket for using BTS (Bangkok Train Station) Hua Lamphong to Catchuchak BTS on the Ticket Vending Machine. The fare is around 40 baht. And the ticket looks like a Plastic Coin.

Arrived in Cathuchak BTS, the market is only straight forward from your exit. What you can do in Cathuchak Market ? Of course SHOPPING, no need to ask for that LOL. The Chatuchak Market is famous for their Good Quality Fashion and Souvenir, the most important that you can Bargain, with the Vendor here.

But aside from Shopping, you can try the famous Mango Sticky Rice, that the Hawkers sell, its only 25 baht, and its really good

And that will conclude your Second Day in Bangkok. Because this route is quite takes a lot of effort and stamina. Need I remind you, always bring your Drinking Water Bottle and Snack or Food. Also the weather in Bangkok is quite Hot for some people, so it will dehydrate you faster.
