Hola Deffa Here !!!

How to go to Pattaya, by Van or Bus ? These two type of transportation is your main choice if you want to go to Pattaya cheaper and faster than using a cab / taxi.

Of course if you are a Backpacker or Flashpacker these two also will be your main transportation. But which on is best suited for you and how to use it ? Read more below

Going to Pattaya by BUS

Bus, maybe your first choice to go to Pattaya from Bangkok, because the Bus Terminal is near the Don Mueang Airport or Suvarnabhumi Airport. But if you are a Backpacker or Flashpacker probably the Don Mueang airport because that's where the Low Cost Carrier is stationed

This how to go to Pattaya by Bus :

  1. The bus terminal name is Mochit 2 Bus Terminal
  2. Go out from the Airport and use the Shuttle Bus of Don Mueang Airport called Bus A1 that will transport you with route : Don Mueang - Mo Chit BTS - Chatuchak Park - Mochit 2 - Don Mueang. The Shuttle Bus Stop located directly at the exit Gate of Don Mueang, you will not missed the Sign Board.
  3. Get off at the Mochit 2 Stop, the shuttle bus fare is 20 baht, you can pay it onboard
  4. Once you arrived at Mochit 2 Bus Terminal enter the main building (follow the sign board)
  5. Once inside look for the Counter with Pattaya on it (there is a few of it)
  6. Look for your preferred time and cost. I say the cheaper one
  7. The fare for one trip from Bangkok to Pattaya usually at 119 baht (2015)

What is the Benefit using Bus to go to Pattaya ?

Of course there is a few benefit if you are using Bus, they are :
  1. Way cheaper than a taxi that maybe will cost you about 1000 - 3000 baht
  2. The bus Reclining Seat is very comfortable if you would like to rest a bit
  3. Usually the traveling time by bus is roughly 2-3 hours depend on traffic
  4. It has more space if you are carrying large suitcase
  5. The time schedule is Everyday at 05.00 - 20.00 local time (Return)
  6. Usually if you ride it at night its not crowded so you can use 2 seat at once to lay down
  7. The Bus Stop in Pattaya is at Pattaya Bus Terminal (Pattaya Roong Ruang Bus Terminal). Located in North Pattaya near the Beach Road
  8. Once at Pattaya Bus Terminal you can ride in the Traditional Public Transportation called Songthaew to transport you to your Hotel, usually only 10-20 baht per person

Going to Pattaya by VAN

Now we are talking about the most convenience way to travel to Pattaya from Bangkok, in my opinion. Simple it because Faster and Cheaper. Just match this blog description about How to Travel Fast and Cheap.

Yup if you are looking for the 2 point above, Van is your answer (i think), well its depend on what you need. The transportation is called Pattaya Van

This is how to go to Pattaya by Van :

  1. Your first destination is Victory Monument
  2. To go to Victory Monument from Don Mueang Airport you need to take a Public Bus no 29, the stop is in front of the airport. The fare usually 10 baht (pay on board)
  3. Tell the bus driver assistant to get off at Victory Monument.
  4. Once you arrived at Victory Monument look for the BTS Victory Monument (it will be above you). But do not enter there, its just for your direction, just follow it going South
  5. Look for a sign PATTAYA VAN. Maybe about 5 minutes walk from your starting point
  6. Finding this place is a bit tricky because its happen to be in between 2 building, so maybe you can ask around if you lost. Just say Pattaya Van, Pattaya Van to the Thai People here
  7. Go to the counter written Pattaya the fare only 99 baht (2015)

What is the Benefit using Van to go to Pattaya ?

Like Bus, Van also has much benefit to offer. they are :
  1. Cheaper than Bus and of course Taxi
  2. Travel time much faster than Bus, usually takes 1.5 - 2 hours drive (depend on Traffic and Driver Skill)
  3. The time schedule is Everyday at 05.00 - 20.00 local time (Return)
  4. The Van Pool in Pattaya is located in front of Pattaya Walking Street
  5. The route in Pattaya usually going to Beach Road so you can get off wherever you want or near your Hotel (if it at the same direction to the Pool)
So there you have it the benefit using Bus or Van to go to Pattaya from Bangkok. This work for both ways (Return). I prefer using Van because its Faster and Cheaper, but it also has the Disadvantage. So we are going to talk about the disadvantage about these two.

The Disadvantage of using Bus or Van to Pattaya

Disadvantage of using Bus

  1. The interval of departing usually 2 hours interval so it will take longer waiting time
  2. The average bus speed is 60 - 80 km/h so it quite slow and also it depend on traffic
  3. You can not get off wherever you want it, so from Terminal to Terminal
  4. If you travel by night the Air Conditioner is very Cold so wear Jacket

Disadvantage of using Van

  1. Some say its hard to locate the Pattaya Van in Victory Monument so they end up lost
  2. Because its a Van so the Seat is cramped, if it on full passenger you will not have enough space to seat comfortably
  3. Yes its fast but the driver is Mad Skill, so expect the unexpected such as Shocks
  4. Usually the Luggage also put in the passenger seat, so it will be more cramped
  5. In hot sunny day and full passengers. The Air Conditioner will be wasted for the one in the back seat
Yup that's it, above is based on my own experience. I've experience both and added the Taxi. Of course if you want to travel with comfort and easy, Taxi is your answer. But its Expensive I tell you.
