Khaosan Tokyo Original, Cheap and Friendly Guesthouse in Asakusa (Updated)

Hola Deffa Here!!!

Why would I choose to stay in Khaosan Tokyo Original? If it's only cheap guesthouse I wouldn't pick this one because when I searched on Agoda there are many other cheaper Hotel than Khaosan Tokyo Original.

Yes it's not about cheap but since it was my first time visiting Japan (Tokyo), I would rather choose a place to stay that comfortable, friendly, easy to access and of course cheap. My first time visiting Tokyo was in November 2014.

By recommendation of my friends, Khaosan Tokyo Original is my choice of accommodation for 4 nights in Tokyo.

That was the rooftop view of the Khaosan Tokyo Original Guesthouse, it is near the Tokyo Skytree it's just a short walk from there, also the Sumida River is right behind it and the most important thing it is close to Asakusa Station, Ginza Line and Asakusa Line.

The building itself is 5 story building just the same as other building in Big Cities, that looks like an apartment.

If you look closely there's a Vending Machine and also Bicycles there, yes the vending machine is sell variety of beverages and you can rent the bike for 500 yen per day.

How To Go To Khaosan Tokyo Original

If you start from Haneda International Airport, it's quite easy. You only need to ride the subway train that directly to Asakusa, there are two line that going to Asakusa, they are Asakusa Line and Ginza Line. I suggest ride the Asakusa Line because its a bit closer than Ginza Line.

I booked the room directly from their website HERE or you can try via AGODA it's all the same.
I booked for Private Room and charged 3,800 Yen / Night

In Private Room, it consist of 2 Bunk Bed, so if you booked the whole room (which is for 2 person) you only need to pay for 5,000 Yen / Night.

Beside that, they also has Mixed and Non Mixed Room with 5-8 Bunk Bed in it and per bed cost 2,500 Yen / Night.

Khaosan Tokyo Original Facilities

As I mentioned before that I stayed in a private room, it is equipped with an Air Conditioner, 2 Bunk Bed, and Electricity Terminal, that's it. The room is quite small even for me, I think it's only 6 m2, but it's still comfortable, considering only use it for sleeping.

Then, there's the Common Room, where we can meet other Guest and share some story or maybe make some coffee or tea, because the Kitchen Room is just around the corner of it, the good thing about guesthouse or hostel is you can use the tea, coffee, milk and other stuff in their kitchen for FREE.

Even though the Common Room is not too spacious but it's still comfy, there's a TV (if you happen understand Japanese Language), Free To Use Computer with Internet, and a Sofa.

Khaosan Tokyo Original Review

My first visit to Tokyo and my first hotel / hostel in Tokyo and it was awesome. FYI, I really love the concept of a hostel / guesthouse, where we can easily interact with other guests, whether it's a small morning talk or even wild night hangover time.

I made a couple of "New Friends" here from France, Kuala Lumpur, Belgium and of course Japan. The staff that I met named Chieko and Allen. Both of them are really nice and English Fluent. They are very friendly person that love to chat with the guest and give them guidance over Tokyo Destination. That's really helpful for first timer like myself.

Overall, for a budget traveller or a backpacker, this place is a must-stay, it has all of the backpacker needs, also usually they have daily events, such as Takoyaki Making, Drink Sake or Lunch Together, so the event is a must if you want to make some new friends.

So I really recommend this place to stay if you are visiting Tokyo. :)
